Bill Gates is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world. He co-founded Microsoft Corporation and became a billionaire at age 31. Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. Gates is one of the wealthiest men in the world, estimated to be worth $90.6 billion.

Early Life

A Young Bill Gates began writing software programs when he was 13. At the same age, he enrolled in the Lakeside School, a private preparatory school. Once, Gates was excused from math lessons to program the GE device in BASIC. Bill Gates created his first computer program on the GEC machine. His first computer program was an implementation of tic-tac-toe. Those allowed users to play games against a computer on this machine.

  Gates, Allen, Weiland, and Evans worked together on a system that belonged to the Computer Center Corporation to find bugs in it.

At 17, Bill Gates left Harvard after two years from Harvard University to work with Paul Allen. Together, they started a software company called Traf-O-Data to make traffic counters

Setting up Microsoft Corporation

Bill Gates and Paul Allen established the software company Micro-Soft in 1975 with a $40,000 loan. The company’s first product was a personal computer called Altair BASIC. Shortly thereafter, the company faced financial crises that made Gates and Allen recognize Microsoft had dropped to the lowest affordable point. The launch of MS-BASIC helped them make a profit of $50,000.

IBM Collaboration

Microsoft began developing MS-DOS, an operating system that would compete with the IBM PC DOS operating system, in 1980. Microsoft proposed MS-DOS as its operating system. IBM promptly accepted the concept and inked a contract between Microsoft and IBM in 1980.

The following year, Microsoft released its first version of Windows to compete with Apple Inc’s Macintosh operating system. In 1990, Microsoft launched its web browser, called Internet Explorer, to compete with Netscape Navigator. In 1994, Microsoft released its Office Suite called Office to compete with the Lotus Development Corporation’s Lotus SmartSuite program suite.

The achievement of Bill Gates also included the creation of the first mouse for personal computers and the development of the Windows Operating System. Windows NT was the first Windows operating system, followed by Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, and finally Windows 11. With a lot of hard work and determination, Gates made his company into Microsoft, which is the world's biggest computer software company.
